Grittleton House Wedding Flowers

Updated: Aug 1, 2022

Let me tell you about the most gorgeous romantic wedding from July 2021. Katie and Mark chose to get married at St Mary’s Church in Grittleton and have their wedding reception at the stunning Grittleton House a luxury country mansion in the Cotswolds close to Bath and Bristol. It's the perfect venue as you can stay in one of their luxury rooms and hire the whole venue for the weekend.

Grittleton House is a sort after venue for couples and florists! The whole house lends itself so well to high impact wedding flowers especially in the Orangery with light flooding in from the Italian Gardens. It was a pleasure to work with Katie and Mark in creating their beautiful wedding flowers which were full of texture, naturally styled flowers and romance! Being a wedding florist I am always thrilled to get to create unique wedding flowers in wedding venues such as Grittleton House. The shot of Katie coming down the stairs at is one of my favourites! Expertly captured by Benjamin Stuart Photography.

We focused on a palette of nude, blush, pinks and creams with plenty of foliage. Katie wanted her wedding flowers to have a very natural feel with lots of movement almost like an English country garden. I think we nailed this by using gorgeous garden roses which have the most divine scent and a very luxury feel. These alongside more of the wild style flowers such as homegrown cosmos and nigella made the perfect combination. At that time of year there is an abundance of seasonal foliage such as hazel and beech that I use along with the muted greens in eucalyptus. Here at Foxy Buds Floral Design we know it is the tiny details and more interesting textures that really bring a design to life. During summer months we have all sorts of homegrown extras to add in and create that natural but luxury look.

The wedding ceremony took place at St Mary’s Church in Grittleton Village, it’s a very special church with a really warm cosy feel to it. It does however benefit from gorgeous wedding flowers! Inside Katie and Mark choose simple hydrangea pew ends which are incredibly effective yet affordable. We are all about making the most of your hard earned money whatever you are spending so will offer solutions to make ensure you are getting the best possible look for the best price. A large urn full to bursting with flowers was placed at the end of the aisle as a great focal point. This was then re located to Grittleton House where is it was enjoyed further. Another brilliant way of getting the most for your money. We also created two lower urns to frame the church entrance which looked gorgeous and again were easily relocated. Although floral arches are stunning it is not always the best option as in this case where there was very little room to get the good shots!

The guests just had a very short walk across to Grittleton House where they were met with a champagne reception. If only I could stay for this part! We decorated the Orangery with high and low table centre designs bringing that natural country garden look inside. We also created a luxury suspended arch framing the entrance to the Italian Gardens. This is always a real show stopper!
